The future

Vision for the future

The Yarra4Life vision includes the implementation of 1,000 hectares of new indigenous vegetation. This will be a biolink (or habitat corridor) to connect the isolated Yellingbo Reserve with the nearby parks that surround the Yarra Valley.

Three main habitat corridors will be established primarily using waterways and links between remnant vegetation on private land. 25 kilometres of new habitat corridors will connect Yellingbo Reserve with Kurth Kiln Park, the Yarra Ranges National Park and Dandenong Ranges National Park.

Goals are:

  • Creating Biolinks -Connecting iconic parks and reserves within the Yarra Valley
  • Creating water quality improvement buffers
  • Improving the connectivity, resilience and health of local habitat and waterways
